Diano Marina is a popular holiday resort and at the same time it is the main town in the picturesque Gulf of Diana situated in the eastern bay of Riviera. In the 13th century this small port town reached a great importance by the shipment of fine Ligurian olive oil. Even nowadays in the neighboring town of San Bartolomeo are found beautiful olive groves. Diano Marina is probably the most beautiful and the most famous seaside resort on the Ligurian coast. Excellent sand beaches and numerous recreational opportunities attract tourists here. A well-kept Marina offers a lot of things starting with sailing tours, diving trips and excursion boats up to whale-watching. In addition to various water sports it offers to play tennis, mini-golf and bowling here. A go-kart track is also opened during the season.
The picturesque beach promenade of Diano Marina invites to quiet walks, restaurants and barbeques. The hotels, inns and villas often offer the vacationers the rooms on the beach or in the quiet green hinterland of the town. Diano Marina attracts many visitors with its historic Via Aurelia. Right on the way there is located the church of St. Antonio Abate which is the most important attraction of a small town. It was built in the neo-classical style and decorated with precious frescoes, marble altar and beautiful paintings. Not far from the church, near the seafront, there is located the former Villa Ardissonne which is today called "Palazzo del Parco". Now it serves as the Heritage Museum and there are kept the finds from the prehistoric and Roman times. All of them were gathered in the surrounding area.
The charming town of Diano Marina is rich in beautiful avenues and pedestrian zones with small shops, cafes and shady places. The town is especially nice during the Corpus Christi festival when many large ornaments and fragrant borders are created from thousands of colorful flowers. Tourists can also visit beautiful neighboring villages and the city of Imperia.
