Riviera di Ponente
The Italian Riviera occupies the total Ligurian coast from the west to the east of Genoa. The area of Genoa adjoining the French border is known as Riviera di Ponente. Together with the French Riviera (also going by the name of Côte d'Azur), it forms the whole Riviera. Two important sections of the Riviera are: the western part stretching from Ventimiglia to Alassio and called Riviera dei Fiori (the Flower Riviera). The eastern area of the Rivieva stretching from Alassio to Genoa is the so-called Riviera delle Palme (the Palm Riviera).
The Riviera di Ponente just like the entire Riviera is marked by a very mild climate in all seasons and therefore not only because of it it’s a highly esteemed holiday region. The popular resorts of the Riviera di Ponente include Bordighera, Diano Marina, Alassio and San Remo in particular. You can very easily find an apartment or a cottage for vacation here where you will have a really great time. All the attractions of the region are easily accessible by car or even by bicycle. Doing the sights will take you much time because there are many interesting things to see here.
The Riviera di Ponente is situated on the shore and it is not suitable for walking. However, the hinterland has many hiking possibilities. A marked trail through the Ligurian mountains leads from the small town of Ventimiglia up to the large city of La Spezia. Besides, except for the numerous sporting opportunities it also offers great views of the sea and mountains. Everyone, who wanders through the area, dreams of coming back here one day and renting a beautiful holiday home. Tourists come to the Riviera di Ponente all year round, but in summer it sometimes can be very hot. The thermometer almost never falls below 10ËšC. Even in January or February it will be quite warm in about the middle of the day. So all year roud you can enjoy the large number of plants growing in all shapes and colors on the roadside. Anyone who has experienced it once will happily come back here again. Sometimes it cam seem it is spring in the Riviera di Ponente all year roun. Besides the goals like San Remo can easily be reached from here. The Riviera di Ponente is the goal for many vacationers as it offers new and new attractions from year to year for 50 years already.
