The town of Arcole is located in the region of Liguria in the vicinity of La Spezia province. It is a nice holiday region as here you will find mountains for hiking and climbing, as well as beaches to relax.
First, Arcola was a base of the Roman army in the time of Roman rule. Arcola is an interesting holiday destination in Liguria not only for the sun worshippers. If you are interested in history, then you should visit this little town, too. First it was used as a defence against the hostile Ligurians. Later in the Middle Ages people settled around this base. They built a castle for mounting and rulling the region.
Towards the end of the 19th century the castle was completely rebuilt for administrative headquarters. Until now it is the most interesting attraction in the city. The area around Arcola generally has much castles and old military barracks. Some medieval temples and other buildings here give a glimpse of an earlier world.
The slope of Arcola towards Magra gives the city more charm. The residents used to cultivate vines and olives here. One of the attractions here is the church of Nostra Signora. The artfully crafted altarpiece, which was made by Andrea Podenzana in the 17th century, is also worth at least a look!
The small town has a few hotels. They are certainly recommended for staying there and offer a good service. They are really designed for a relaxing holiday. The hotels Casa Serena and La Mimosa are quite popular with tourists and well-attended by them. Those who prefer their own accommodation can also have the possibility to rent an apartment. A total of four hotels offer their services at the site. An early booking is also provided here. Both in winter, as well as in summer Arcola is a great tourist destination.
